A Fine Collection of Middle Eastern and North African Banknotes 25th of April 2017 held at Spink London
Excerpt from the sale preview from April 2017:
This spring, Spink are offering two excellent collections of material from the Middle East. This, the second to be sold, is the natural complement to the first. The finest items include a plethora of rare trials, die proofs, specimens and essays from all sorts of countries, and these provide a perfect foil to the mostly issued notes in the aforementioned sale. The enthusiasm of the owner for the subject is apparent from the breadth and depth of material present. There are superb groups of Egypt including a lovely specimen £100 of 1912, excellent selections of Iraq and Jordan - both very popular with collectors - and of course some very attractive Gulf material. Many of the specimens and trials are extremely rare and in some cases unique. The star lots though, have to be a group of Saudi Arabian essays for unknown designs, mostly hand produced and all extremely beautiful.
